Speke Resort & Conference Centre Munyonyo was voted the Best Service/Luxury Standard Hotel in Uganda at the Ekkula Pearl of Africa Tourism Awards which took place at Hotel Africana on Friday.

Ekkula Tourism Awards recognized organisations and people who are contributing to the development of tourism sector. In the same manner Speke Resort Munyonyo stood out as the best hotel promoting Uganda.

The Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga applauded investors like Speke Resort Munyonyo for creating jobs for Ugandans and promoting thecountry.

General Elly Tumwine, speaking as the chief jusdge of Ekkula Pearl of Africa Tourism Awards described Uganda’s tourism sector as ‘virgin’ and a ‘goldmine’. He also thanked members of the private sector who are already making an effort to make Uganda a preferred tourism destination.

Greg Petzer, the general manager of Speke Resort, said team work and working hard to meet the needs of their customers make them stand out. He said it was a great honor to be recognized as the hotel with the best services and standards in the whole country.

He said they will continue reviewing their standards to meet the market needs and make Uganda the best tourism destination. He thanked his team for executing the work well resulting into an award.

“We are extremely proud for the recognition. As a team, we work very hard to meet the expectations of our quests. By winning this award, it means we are doing something right,” Petzer said, adding that they are going to work extra even harder and continue being the best.
